No problems.Welcome to r/Apple, the unofficial community for Apple news, rumors, and discussions. So about 10 years since doing a clean install. Since then I've cloned the drive over to a MacBook 13', then a MacBook 15', then a MacBook Air, back to a MacBook 15' and now a 2016 MacBook 15' that I'm using now. That was the last clean install on a MacBook 17'. The one I use the most (portable) is an install that goes back to.

I also have lots of apps/games that don't use iCloud syncing, so I like my progress (or settings etc.) to stay with me during any upgrade.Btw, I don't have any problems with restoring, or any problems that I've faced by restoring. I've been restoring from backup since my iPhone 4 (I guess, maybe the 3GS as well) because I want everything the way I set it, with all my messages, my settings, my accounts, my apps in place. This fundamental difference in audience is why we support two communities, r/Apple and r/AppleHelp. Free graphics app for mac airTrust in CleanMyMac is trusting a 3rd party, which is adding risk with no significant benefit, and can cause issues when used as intended and the procedure was successful. You could add the same text to a wide range of applications - all mainstream titles - it would be no less inaccurate because of its vagueness.Right, and if that occurred with any other app, I'd take it as a red flag and do additional research. While Disk Utility can be misused, the trust in using Disk Utility is trust in Apple, which is an inherent requisite for using a Mac. It doesn't go into applications packages and change resources which may cause issues with those applications. That's a clear violation, and for good reason. It's not unreasonable to think that Apple considers this unsafe and thus rejects apps that do this, because it is unsafe for apps to do this.Again, it's pretty easy to find issues that users have had with CleanMyMac, and these things should raise a red flag for anyone considering paying for software that doesn't meet Apple's criteria for the App Store and doesn't provide any real benefits (arguably at best nothing more than what's available freely) and has such high numbers of people reporting serious issues with it.Of course the Wikipedia is vague and offers no citation, but as I mentioned, it's not hard to take what's there and connect the dots.If you're criticizing Wikipedia, I can't argue against you that the statement could be better written and needs citation. However, that's a bit of a different argument than the safety of CleanMyMac.Disk Utility is developed by Apple. It was rejected.Ok, well what rules does it break that we know about? Well, one that we know about is that it's capable of going into the package contents of a 3rd party app and making modifications. However, why are the other apps by the developer in it, but not CleanMyMac? It's not because they didn't submit it. Anti-Malware software should flag and prevent this. No app in the Apple App Store is allowed to do this. This is a really bad idea. It can go into the package contents of other apps and make modifications. All I said was, "Well there's this." and "Really, I don't think anything it does is necessary to begin with."You're reading way too much into that comment. You still haven't even said why the app is unsafe beyond a vague criteria that applies to a lot of mainstream apps.Yes I have. In this case, it's really not too difficult to find what the issues are with using CleanMyMac.I didn't. Like just about anything.Sure one could run CleanMyMac and not grant it certain permissions, turn off some of the functionality, and have it perform what's left without any issues. That's risky due to it causing an error, or causing an app to do something intentionally malicious. By allowing the package contents to be modified, you're essentially enabling the app to modify another app however it wants. In my second comment, I acknowledged that you're right, it needs a citation, but instead of writing an exhaustive review and detailed analysis, I simply pointed to the fact that the issues that I have concerns about and why I believe that statement is on the Wikipedia article can be easily found via Google.I totally agree with your advice on MacKeeper and MplayerX. My original comment was solely to point someone to another voice on the matter.
